Many hotels offer internet connection to their guests. There are a wide variety of different ways to provide this facility.

 

Use of Hotel’s Computer

The hotel will allow guests to use the hotel’s office or reception computer for a short period at quieter times of the day.

 

 

Internet Terminals

The hotel has an internet café or internet cubicle or internet room where there are dedicated computers connected to the internet. This can either be a dial up connection or a ADSL connection. Tickets with passwords are usually purchased from the hotel reception for specified time periods.

 

 

Internet TV

Some of the larger hotel offer internet on the guest room’s television. This has the usual limitations of the Web TV system. A wireless keyboard is in the room or can be obtained from reception.

 

 

ADSL Room Connections for Laptops

An ADSL connection is provided via a standard Ethernet plug. The client connects his laptop to the socket and usually a registration page appears. The client registers and the cost, usually about 10 EUR for 24 hours is added to the room bill.

 

 

WiFi Room Connections for Laptops

An radio WiFi connection is provided in the rooms and also at other locations in the hotel. The client starts his WiFi enabled laptop and usually a registration page appears. The client registers and the cost, usually about 10 EUR for 24 hours is added to the room bill.

 

 

Dialup Room Connections for Laptops

The client connects his laptop to the telephone socket and sets up an internet connection using the phone number and ISP details provided by the hotel.

 

 

Additional Room Telephone Sockets

Often called an internet point but this is no more than an additional telephone connection. The client must have a lap to and an account with his own ISP to dial in to this connection.
